The award-winning training provider, SeaBot Maritime, has unveilled its new portfolio of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) Certified Professional training courses.

The MASS Operator Training is part of SeaBot Maritime’s MASS Remote Operator Training Scheme, a new workforce career pathway, which has been devised by SeaBot Maritime as a framework for users of uncrewed vessels.

Designed for personnel conducting uncrewed surface vessel (USV) operations, the training equips candidates with the necessary skillset to enable safe and sustainable operations in the marine environment whilst promoting best practices within the maritime sector.

This new MASS Remote Operator Training received MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) voluntary recognition in October 2022, which was developed by SeaBot Maritime in association with its long-term customer, Fugro.

Gordon Meadow, CEO of SeaBot Maritime comments, “The MASS Certified Professional (MCP) Training Scheme was launched to help overcome the challenges associated with the adoption and operation of next gen maritime technology.”

“Introducing new technologies into a well-established sector such as maritime has inherent risks associated; therefore, it is crucial to have sufficiently trained and competent personnel who can deliver quality remote solutions safely and consistently. We are proud to offer the first wave of MASS remote operator training courses to a global enterprise and defence audience.”

SeaBot Maritime’s MASS Operations’ UK training facility is headquartered at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK, providing solutions to a global customer base both from its headquarters and through its customers’ locations worldwide.

SeaBot Maritime provides training, workforce learning and development solutions for customers evolving conventional workforces in the operation of surface and subsurface autonomous marine vehicles; both from parent vessels and remote operations centres (ROCs).

MASS training comprises a blend of instructor-led, synthetic environment and experiential on-water learning, complemented by SeaBot Maritime’s additional solutions including distance-learning solutions, VR, AR, and 3D visualisation tools.
